Generation
The 1B4 monoclonal antibody was generated from mice immunized with an 11 mer-peptide derived from the sequence of human MMP-3. The amino acid sequence of this peptide was: KSLRKLEPELH (Murray et al., 1998).

Reactivity
This monoclonal antibody binds to human MMP-3. Reactivity in other species has not been determined. The antibody was tested for cross-reactivity with MMP-1, MMP-2 and MMP-9 and did not cross-react.

Technical information
The 1B4 monoclonal antibody has been tested for use in Western blotting and immunohistochemical analysis of formalin-fixed/paraffin-embedded tissues. It is suggested to use lung tissue as positive control. Antigen retrieval by microwave treatment (5 min at full power, 950 W in 0.01 M sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0) is recommended for immunohistochemical analysis.

Preperation
Hybridoma culture supernatant, 1.0 ml, with 0.05% sodiumazide added as a preservative.

Two months at 4°C, 1 year at -20°C. Avoid repeated thawing/freezing.
